PTE Core Test Centers in Nepal 2026: Booking Guide for Canada PR
By Smriti Simkhada (90/90) · Updated
PTE Core is Pearson's dedicated English test for Canadian immigration — accepted by IRCC for Express Entry (FSWP, CEC, FSTP) and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) since January 2024. PTE Core is separate from PTE Academic: PTE Academic is used for university admissions, Australian immigration, and other study-related purposes — it is not accepted by IRCC for Canadian permanent residency. For Nepali students targeting Canada PR, knowing exactly where to book, which centres actually offer PTE Core sessions (not all Academic centres do), and how the IRCC acceptance timeline works is critical.
This guide is specifically for PTE Core in Nepal. For PTE Academic test centres (used for Australia PR, student visas, and university admissions), see our companion PTE Test Centers Nepal 2026 guide.

PTE Core vs PTE Academic — Why the Centres Matter
Both tests are delivered at Pearson-approved PTE test centres, but Pearson's centre list does not say which products each centre runs on a given date. Nepal's centres are in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Chitwan (Narayangarh), Tilottama and Itahari. The only way to know whether PTE Core is on offer at a centre is to select PTE Core on the pearsonpte.com booking screen and look at the calendar.
As of 2026, availability patterns reported by students include:
- Kathmandu centres deliver PTE Core with relatively frequent slots. Booking 1–2 weeks ahead is generally sufficient outside peak periods.
- Pokhara centre may offer PTE Core, but slot frequency is lower. Book 3–4 weeks ahead to be safe and confirm Core availability in the booking portal before travelling.
- Chitwan, Tilottama, Itahari and other regions — confirm availability on the booking screen. If no Core slot is listed, students typically travel to Kathmandu.
Always confirm Core availability at your preferred centre by searching for "PTE Core" (not "PTE Academic") in the pearsonpte.com booking screen — the calendar shows only Core slots when you select PTE Core as the product. Fees and seat availability can change; confirm in your Pearson account before payment.
Stuck below your target? The 79+ Sprint

How to Book PTE Core in Nepal — Step by Step
- Create a Pearson account at pearsonpte.com. Use your full legal name exactly as on your passport — name mismatches cause IRCC rejection.
- Select "PTE Core" — not "PTE Academic", "PTE Academic UKVI", or "PTE Home". These are separate products with different IRCC acceptance status.
- Choose "Nepal" as your location, then filter by city.
- Pick a slot that allows enough time for score delivery before your Express Entry profile deadline. PTE Core results typically arrive within 2 business days, and up to 5 in some cases.
- Pay via your preferred payment method. Nepal-specific payment options may be available through Pearson's local partner — check the booking portal for current accepted methods. The fee is charged in USD; your bank converts it to rupees at its own rate.
- Verify your booking confirmation — download the PDF voucher and confirm the test type explicitly reads "PTE Core".
PTE Core Score Delivery Timeline
Score reports typically arrive within 2 business days via your Pearson account, and up to 5 business days in some cases. This is materially faster than IELTS General Training (up to 13 days for paper) and CELPIP (typically 8 days) — a significant advantage when IRCC Express Entry draw timing matters.
Once your score report is available, you can submit it to IRCC using the official IRCC portal. Your score is valid for 2 years from the test date for Express Entry purposes. Always confirm current validity and submission requirements at canada.ca/ircc.
Which Cities Work Best for Nepali Students
Kathmandu — Recommended Default
Highest slot frequency, easiest rebooking if you need to retake. Most Nepali students and consultancies are based here. Pearson-approved centres including Alfa Beta and ULCI operate in Kathmandu. Use the official test centre finder to see current options and availability.
Pokhara — Potential Secondary Option
May have lower slot frequency but less booking competition. If considering Pokhara, confirm PTE Core is available there via the booking portal before making travel arrangements, and book well in advance.
Chitwan, Tilottama, Itahari and Other Regions
Check the Pearson VUE booking portal for PTE Core availability in your region. If no Core sessions are listed, students from these regions typically book Kathmandu and plan a 1–2 day trip. The test itself takes under 2 hours.
How Much Does PTE Core Cost in Nepal in 2026?
Pearson's listed Nepal price for PTE Core is USD 248.60, the same as PTE Academic. Pearson lists the PTE fee in Nepal in USD, so the rupee amount depends on your bank's rate. Fees can change, so check the current fee on the pearsonpte.com booking screen before payment — fees and seat availability can change. For cost comparison with other English tests accepted by IRCC, see our PTE cost in Nepal breakdown.
What to Bring on Test Day
- Valid passport — the same passport you used at booking. Citizenship card or driving licence is not accepted for PTE Core.
- Booking confirmation (printed or on phone).
- Nothing else. No phones, watches, bags, water bottles allowed in the testing room. Lockers are provided outside.
- Arrive 30 minutes early. Check-in, biometrics, and signature capture take 15–20 minutes.
After the Test — Sending Scores to IRCC
- Log into your Pearson account after your results are ready (typically within 2 business days).
- Download your score report PDF.
- In your IRCC Express Entry profile, enter the scores under the language test section. IRCC accepts the PDF directly — no need to physically mail.
- Scores are machine-verifiable by IRCC against Pearson's system, so there is no approval delay.
Always verify the current IRCC submission process at canada.ca/ircc as requirements can change.
If You Need to Retake
You can book PTE Core again immediately — there is no mandatory waiting period between attempts. Each attempt is a fresh booking at full price. For retake strategy specifically, see our PTE retake strategy guide.

Always verify: IRCC scoring tables, CLB-to-PTE Core conversions and program-specific minimums can change. Confirm the latest values on the IRCC Express Entry language test page before submitting any application.
