Your Free 15-Day PTE Study Plan

A day-by-day preparation sequence designed by Smriti Simkhada — the same structure the team uses with 1,500+ students. Each day covers one or two task types, in the order that builds your score fastest.

Day 1: PTE Format + Scoring System

90 min

Understand all section types and how many items each has

Learn exactly how the AI scoring engine works — pronunciation, fluency, content, form

Read the task-by-task scoring guide (find it in the Materials section)

Set up your headset and microphone — do a test recording

Smriti Simkhada's note: Most students fail because they prepare for the wrong things. Day 1 is about building an accurate mental model, not practising yet.

2

Day 2: Baseline Mock Test

2.5 hrs

Take a full timed practice mock test (use Pearson Scored Practice or a trusted provider)

Do not pause, do not cheat — replicate real test conditions

After finishing, note your lowest-scoring sections and task types

This score is your starting point — every session from Day 3 is targeted at the gap

Smriti Simkhada's note: Your baseline mock score tells you exactly which tasks need most attention. Without it, Days 3–13 is guesswork.

Is This For You?

This plan works best if you…

Good fit

  • You have a baseline PTE score or a solid English foundation
  • You are targeting 65+, 79+, or 90+ for Australia PR, student visa, or AHPRA/ACS assessment
  • You can dedicate 90–150 minutes per day for 15 consecutive days
  • You want structure — a clear task-by-task sequence instead of random practice
  • You are a retaker who wants to know what to fix, not just practise everything again

You may need more support if…

  • –You are starting from a very low English base — 30–45 days may be more realistic
  • –You have never taken any English test and need foundational grammar work first
  • –You have less than 1 hour per day — compressed timelines rarely work without coaching
  • –Your exam is in fewer than 7 days — intensive 1-on-1 coaching is a better use of that time

FAQ

Study Plan — Frequently Asked

Is 15 days enough to reach 79+?

For most students with a solid English foundation, 15 days of focused practice is enough to close a 5–10 point gap. If you are starting below 50 or have a large gap, 30–45 days is more realistic. The plan gives you the structure — your timeline depends on your starting point.

How many hours per day does this require?

Each day is designed for 90 minutes to 2.5 hours. If you are studying alongside work or classes, split the session into two blocks. Consistency beats marathon sessions.

What practice materials should I use?

Use Pearson's Scored Practice tests for mocks — they are the most accurate. For task-specific drills, use the free materials in our Materials section. Prediction articles in the Blog cover the most common speaking and writing topics.

Should I practise all tasks every day?

No. This plan is deliberately focused: one or two task types per day, practised deeply. Spreading practice thin across all tasks every day is less effective than mastering one task type at a time.

What if I am already scoring well in Speaking but poorly in Writing?

Adjust the plan. After your Day 2 baseline, double the time you spend on weak phases. If Writing is 15 points below target, spend Days 3–5 on Writing instead. The structure is a template — customise it to your gap.

Can I get feedback on my Speaking and Writing during the plan?

Yes. After Day 13 or 14, submit a Speaking recording and Essay sample for professional graded feedback. We review both against official PTE scoring criteria and return detailed written feedback within 48 hours — see the Graded Feedback service.

Ready to start Day 1?

15 days. One task type at a time. The same sequence Smriti Simkhada uses with students who hit 79+ on their first or second attempt.
